Homemade Gluten-Free Dog Donuts (with Apple, Coconut & Peanut Butter)

Looking for a fun, healthy, and dog-friendly treat to spoil your pup? These homemade gluten-free dog donuts are the perfect way to celebrate your furry bestie whether it’s their birthday, gotcha day, or just because. 🐶✨

Made with simple, wholesome ingredients like rice flour, apple, coconut oil, and peanut butter, this recipe is gentle on sensitive tummies while still feeling like a special treat. The best part? You can top them with a yogurt frosting and a crunchy crumble for extra dog-approved joy.

Ingredients

For the donuts:

  • 1 cup rice flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup apple purée
  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • ¼ cup natural unsweetened peanut butter
  • 1 egg

For the frosting:

  • ¼ cup plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt
  • Your pup’s favorite crunchy treat, crushed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the rice flour, baking soda, apple purée, coconut oil, peanut butter, and egg until well combined.
  3. Pour the mixture into a donut pan (makes about 8 donuts).
  4. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Let the donuts cool completely.
  6. Dip each donut in Greek yogurt and sprinkle with crushed dog cookies.

Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Important Notes

⚠️ Always use natural Greek yogurt, unsweetened and unflavored, with no added sugar.

⚠️ Peanut butter must also be natural and free of added sugar or sweeteners. Be especially careful with xylitol, which is toxic for dogs.

🐾 If this is your pup’s first time trying a new ingredient, start with a very small piece to make sure it sits well with their tummy.
