Homemade Gluten-Free Dog Donuts

Looking for a fun, healthy, and dog-friendly treat to spoil your pup?
These homemade gluten-free dog donuts are the cutest way to celebrate your furry bestie, whether it’s their birthday, gotcha day, or just because you're in your dog mom era.

Made with simple, wholesome ingredients like rice flour, apple purée, coconut oil, and natural peanut butter, this recipe stays gentle on sensitive tummies while still feeling super special. The best part? Frost them with creamy yogurt and top with a crunchy crumble for peak pup joy.

Ingredients

For the Donuts

  • 1 cup rice flour

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 cup apple purée

  • ¼ cup coconut oil

  • ¼ cup natural, unsweetened peanut butter

  • 1 egg

For the Frosting

  • ¼ cup plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt

  • Your pup’s favorite crunchy treat, crushed (cookies, freeze-dried fruit, or even crushed kibble)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the rice flour and baking soda.

  3. Add the apple purée, coconut oil, peanut butter, and egg. Stir until the batter is smooth and well combined.

  4. Spoon the mixture into your donut mold (makes about 8 small donuts).

  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and firm.

  6. Let the donuts cool completely as frosting warm donuts is a no-go.

  7. Dip each donut into the Greek yogurt frosting and sprinkle with your dog’s favorite crunchy topping.

  8. Store in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Important Notes

  • Always use unsweetened, unflavored Greek yogurt - no additives.

  • Peanut butter must be xylitol-free, unsweetened, and natural.

  • When trying new ingredients, offer your pup a tiny piece first to make sure it agrees with their tummy.
